# Binary Preparation

Prepare the downloaded Linux binary before installation.

## Preparation for Single-Instance Installation

When using the built-in installer, name the local executable `rtmn`. The installer copies the binary that is currently being executed, so a mismatched download filename can make the installed result confusing.

```bash
mkdir -p ~/rtmn-install
cd ~/rtmn-install
cp /path/to/downloaded/rtmn-linux-amd64 ./rtmn
chmod 0755 ./rtmn
./rtmn --help
```

A valid binary should show these top-level commands:

```
rtmn
rtmn run
rtmn install [flags]
rtmn uninstall [-purge]
rtmn rotate-token
```

## Preparation for Account-Isolated Installation

Account-isolated installation copies the binary into a path dedicated to each service account.

Examples:

```
/home/<account-a>/.rtmn-ops/rtmn-ops
/home/<account-b>/.rtmn-app/rtmn-app
/home/<account-c>/.rtmn-admin/rtmn-admin
```

Each binary must be executable by its service account.

Recommended permissions:

```
directory: 0750
binary:    0755
owner:     service account
group:     service account group
```
